  • Barbara Kessler (’83) of Owasso, Oklahoma, received the Roche Preceptor of the Year Award at ceremonies held at SWOSU. Roche Laboratories, Inc. provides this award to an outstanding member of the volunteer clinical pharmacy faculty at SWOSU. (More)


  • Don Dowling (’56) of Frisco, Texas, has pledged $5,000 to the Southwestern Pharmacy Alumni Foundation as part of the pharmacy’s fundraising campaign. (More)

  • Sally Perkey (’77) of Hobart and Hayley Jane (Perkey) Meadors (’05) of Oklahoma City have established a Perkey Family Scholarship with the Southwestern of Pharmacy. (More)

  • Southwestern School/College of Pharmacy graduates John Barton, Altus, OK; Charles M. Hall, Sr., Lubbock, TX; Lloyd B. Helms, Idabel, OK; Michael E. Lokensgard, Mankato, MN; Jack R. Myrick, Sapulpa, OK; Harold Raff, Lubbock, TX: D.M. Sokolosky, Owasso, OK; Donald Spainhower, Bolivar, MO; Kenneth R. Turner, Carthage, TX: and Don A. Turner, Fairland, OK, were awarded Gold Certificates by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy. The certificates were awarded in recognition for the distinction of having been a licensed pharmacist in Oklahoma for 50 years.



  • Jeramy Mosburg (’99) of Silver Spring, Maryland, sends news that he is currently in medical fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC.


  • Medco Health Solutions contributed $5,000 to the Southwestern Pharmacy scholarship programs. Southwestern Pharmacy appreciates the active role Medco is taking in the Southwestern College of Pharmacy program. These monies will be used to provide scholarship to deserving pharmacy students at Southwestern.   • David Pittman (’67 & ’04) of Sulphur, Oklahoma, and Mike Bugher (’67) of Elk City, Oklahoma, have been elected President and President-Elect, respectively, for the Oklahoma Pharmacists Association.

    The Pharmacy Alumni Association Council purpose is to serve as the governing body for the Pharmacy Alumni Association. The PAAC promotes the interests and welfare of the Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Alumni Association, and its alumni by providing a direct communications link between the College of Pharmacy and its alumni.

    The goals of the PAAC are to promote the interest of the Southwestern College of Pharmacy and its alumni; encourage alumni membership and participation in the Pharmacy Alumni Association; enhance the image of the Southwestern College of Pharmacy; recommend social and educational opportunities for alumni; encourage and coordinate various alumni activities; encourage financial support through the Southwestern Pharmacy Alumni Foundation for the SWOSU COP: scholarships, academic enrichment, endowments, museum, etc.

    The current officers are Alan Spies, President, Klem Chandler, Vice President and David Ralph, Secretary-Treasurer. Ex-officio members of the PAAC are Dr. David Bergman, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Dr. H.F.     The College of Pharmacy Alumni Events are casual and informal. Notices of specific pharmacy event locations will be posted on Chemistry, Pharmacy, Physics Building, Third Floor. Check the pharmacy alumni website for updates to the College of Pharmacy Alumni Events schedule. Contact the Pharmacy Alumni Office for more information and/or to RSVP.


  • The College of Pharmacy will have an Open House from 10:00AM – 1:30PM on the Third Floor of the Chemistry, Pharmacy, Physics (CPP) Building on Saturday, October 28, 2006, in conjunction with SW Homecoming. All pharmacy alumni and friends are invited. Open House will be a great chance to view the facilities, see the pharmacy museum, take a stroll through the Pharmacy Alumni Garden, and visit with pharmacy alumni and faculty.


  • A 50-Year Pharmacy Graduate Recognition Ceremony will be held at 11AM at the Open House. The Class of 1956 is cordially invited to this event. If you graduated before 1956 and have not yet been honored, please let us do that this year!   We hope all pharmacy alumni and their families will attend this special tribute to the 50-Year Pharmacy Graduates. Contact the Pharmacy Alumni Office for more information (580-774-3190 or 580-774-7197) and/or to RSVP (before October 18).


  • The Pharmacy Alumni Lunch, compliments of your Southwestern Pharmacy Alumni Association, will be lunch boxes with sandwiches, etc. Lunch will be available following the 50-Year Pharmacy Graduate Recognition Ceremony.   • Pharmacy Alumni Dinners – The Southwestern College of Pharmacy and the Pharmacy Alumni Association have been hosting a number of pharmacy alumni dinners for all Southwestern College/School of Pharmacy alumni and their guests.

  • SWOSU College of Pharmacy faculty Carroll (Les) Ramos, Erin Callen, and Elizabeth (Betsy) Poorman received the 2006 AACP Teacher of the Year Awards. Ramos was honored in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, while Callen and Poorman were selected in the Department of harmacy Practice. The awards were voted on by College of Pharmacy practice students.
