  • Gary Russi, a graduate of the College of Pharmacy (1969) and a Distinguished Alumnus of SWOSU (1998) established the Dr. Gary Russi Endowed Scholarship…via the Southwestern University Foundation. This year’s recipient is Pamela Landua of Weatherford, Oklahoma.

  • Irby Family Practice Grants Fund established by the Lowell Irby Family in Artesia, New Mexico: College of Pharmacy graduates Lowell (1955, a distinguished alumnus of the College of Pharmacy (1999); Wade (1996); and Kirk (1995). This year’s recipients are Emily A. Schafer, Oklahoma City (Deer Creek); Bryan Harrison, Devol; Terry Furrow, Hinton, and Keith Chastain, Elgin.

  • Joseph J. Schwemin Scholarship Fund in honor of Joe Schwemin, graduate of the College of Pharmacy (1948), a distinguished alumnus of the College of Pharmacy, and a distinguished alumnus of SWOSU (1981). This year’s recipient is Jamie Mills of Midwest City, Oklahoma.

  • Brewster Family Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of Keisha and Kent Brewster, children of Bill Brewster, graduate of the College of Pharmacy (1965) and a distinguished alumnus of the College of Pharmacy (1983). This year’s recipient is Wendi D. Chandler of Weatherford, Oklahoma.

  • Wayne Bearden Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of Wayne Bearden, a graduate of the College of Pharmacy (1974). This year ’s recipient is Jeremy Logan of Rule, Texas.

  • Amy S. Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of Amy Switzer Jones, a graduate of the College of Pharmacy (2001). This year ’s recipient is Johnny Grant of Elk City, Oklahoma.

  • Donald R. Masse Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of Donald R. Masse, a graduate of the College of Pharmacy (1997). Parents of Donald, Don and Judy Masse, of Guymon, Oklahoma, attended the 2004 Southwestern College of Pharmacy Awards Convocation on Friday, April 23, 2004. This year’s recipient is Mandy Means of Cherokee, Oklahoma.

  • Cynthia Jean Toal Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of Cindy Toal, a graduate of the College of Pharmacy (1975). This year’s recipient is Erin Thompson of Wilburton, Oklahoma.

  • Clyde Miller Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of Clyde E. Miller, a benefactor of the College of Pharmacy and graduate of the College of Pharmacy (1941). This year’s recipient is Jessica Thompson of Yukon, Oklahoma.

  • Jerry D. McWilliams Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of Jerry D. McWilliams, a graduate of the College of Pharmacy (1965). This year’s recipient is Jodi Mandrell of Snyder, Texas.

  • Baucum Family Practice Grants Fund established by Tom Baucum, a graduate of the College of Pharmacy (1957). This year’s recipients are Tony Hudgins, Denison, Texas; Sarah Leiby, Rocky Comfort, Missouri; and Jordan W. Smith, Jefferson City, Missouri.

  • Frank G. and Ann E. Hodges Memorial Scholarship Fund established in memory of the parents of College of Pharmacy alumnus G.H. Hodges (73). This year’s recipient is Amanda Sites of El Reno, Oklahoma.

  • Terri Whittington Elliott (97) of McAlester, Oklahoma and Shannon Griggs attended the 2004 Southwestern College of Pharmacy Awards Convocation on Friday, April 23, 2004, to represent Wal-Mart. This year’s recipient of the Wal-Mart Company Scholarship is Dusty Allen of McAlester, Oklahoma.

  • Kimberly Maywald Foster (02) and her husband, Scott, send news of the birth of their first child, daughter Katie Victoria. She was born on April 21 at 4:36 p.m. in Webster, Texas, weighing 7 pounds, 14 ounces, 20.5 inches long. She also writes, “she is absolutely beautiful and we couldn’t be more proud!” Congratulations to the Foster family!

  • Remember, Rekindle, Reconnect. Southwestern College of Pharmacy is hosting a Reception for SW Pharmacy Alumni at this year’s Texas Pharmacy Association’s 125th Annual Meeting & Expo on Thursday, July 8 at 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. All Southwestern College of Pharmacy graduates attending the TPA Annual Meeting and all Southwestern College of Pharmacy graduates in the Dallas area on Thursday, July 8, 2004, are encouraged to attend.   • Remodeling - A complete remodeling of the west wing of the CPP Building began, but budget shortfalls have delayed the completion of the major project. However, to begin to meet ACPE accreditation objectives, the Pharmaceutical Care Lab 2 is currently being updated. Students will be using the lab again when the summer semester begins this June.

  • Vilas Prabhu, former pharmacy faculty member and current Associate Provost for Academic and Student Affairs, is retiring from Southwestern, effective June 30 of this year. Dr. Prabhu is leaving to become Provost at Millersville University of Pennsylvania. (More)
