William G. Bernhardt
2004 Southwestern Pharmacy Outstanding Alumnus
William (Bill) G. Bernhardt graduated from
Omega High School in Kingfisher County. He attended Texas Christian
University, Southwestern Oklahoma State University and the University
of Oklahoma School of Medicine. He received a B.S. degree at
Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and a Medical Doctor
(M.D.) at the University of Oklahoma.
Bill has spent his entire
medical career in the Midwest
City area. He has been involved
in medical, community, and
church activities. Bill was
pleased to have been selected “Family
Doctor of the Year” by
the Oklahoma Academy of Family
Physicians in 1986. He was
elected Chief of Staff of
Midwest City Hospital in
1972, and President of the
Oklahoma Academy of Family
Physicians in 1982. He was
selected by the University
of Oklahoma School of Medicine
Alumni Association to be “Practicing
Physician of the Year in
Oklahoma” in 1992.
His wife, Theta Juan Sickles
Bernhardt, graduated from
Fairview High School. She
then attended Oklahoma State
University and Southwestern
Oklahoma State University,
where she graduated with
a B.A. in Education. Theta
Juan taught in the Midwest
City School system while
her husband attended medical
school.
The Bernhardts have four
children and eleven grandchildren.
Bill and Theta Juan are lifetime
members of the SWOSU Alumni
Association. In 1991, Bill
was honored as a Distinguished
Alumnus for SWOSU. This year,
the Southwestern College
of Pharmacy honored Dr. Bernhardt
as the Outstanding Pharmacy
Alumnus.
