Campaign Priorities - The Focus
TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE
The College of Pharmacy at Southwestern Oklahoma State University was founded in 1939, with the mission to educate highly competent pharmacists, The College of Pharmacy achieves its mission through excellence in teaching, scholarly activity, and service to the state and pharmacy profession.
In 1974, the Southwestern Pharmacy Alumni Foundation was incorporated for the purpose of supporting the educational endeavors of the College of Pharmacy. The Pharmacy Foundation is dedicated to assisting the operations of the College of Pharmacy, enriching the educational experience of its students, and providing services to the College’s alumni and friends.
Together, the College of Pharmacy and the Pharmacy Foundation need your support of The Focus Campaign. This campaign is designed to address the funding priorities vital to the future of the College of Pharmacy. Specifically, it will assist in funding scholarships, academic enrichment, endowments for the future and the pharmacy school history.
Your participation is essential to the success of the campaign and the continued tradition of excellence at SWOSU College of Pharmacy.
SOUTHWESTERN PHARMACY PRIDE
Scholarship Fund
$500,000 Goal
Student scholarships serve to assist those who are in financial need, recognize deserving students for their academic achievements, and promote professionalism. Tuition and related educational expenses continue to increase for students in the College of Pharmacy. Creation of new scholarship funds and the enhancement of existing funds are vital to supporting the educational endeavors of our students as well as strengthening and ensuring a superior academic environment.
QUALITY OF EDUCATION
Academic Enrichment Fund
$225,000 Goal
As pharmacy practice has evolved, innovative and technological aspects of pharmacy education have become necessary and very costly. Some of these educational tools have been obtained with current budget allocations. However, staying on the crest of these technological advances, as well as maintaining the present equipment, carries a high, ongoing cost. These expenditures become a constant, recurrent budgetary challenge with today’s funding situation for higher education in Oklahoma. This fund will provide support to enhance classrooms, technology and facilities. In addition, support will be available for new instructional concepts in pharmacy education.
ENRICHMENT OF THE FUTURE
Endowed Chairs/Professorships/Lectureships
$225,000 Goal
Recruiting and hiring faculty is a continual challenge. Creation of endowed professorships, which can be matched from a program from the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, can assist the College of Pharmacy in attracting highly qualified faculty. The goal for this campaign is to create a variety of endowments. Funds from these endowments allow the College of Pharmacy to more efficiently utilize its general budgetary monies.
PRESERVING THE LEGACY
Southwestern Pharmacy & History Fund
$50,000 Goal
The College of Pharmacy has relocated the historical artifacts that have been received over numerous years. The museum area provides excellent displays for all to view. Support from this fund will provide for refurbishing of historical items, procuring of display fixtures, and additional museum expenses. In addition to the creation of SWOSU College of Pharmacy history documents, the fund will also support collection and cataloging of College of Pharmacy memorabilia and general pharmacy artifacts donated from alumni and friends.

The Focus
$1,000,000 Total Campaign Goal
The Focus is on the Tradition of Excellence, Quality of Education, Southwestern Pharmacy Pride, Enrichment of the Future, Preserving the Legacy, and Making a Difference.
The priority objectives deemed critical to the successful advancement of the SWOSU College of Pharmacy will be funded by the campaign. The estimated cost of each critical objective has been determined and the sum of these costs represents the total campaign goal of $1,000,000.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Throughout its long history, SWOSU College of Pharmacy has been dedicated to excellence in pharmacy education. Faculty and staff have united with alumni and friends in this goal, and their effort pays off as your alma mater is nationally recognized as a leader in the education of pharmacists. We need you to help Southwestern Pharmacy raise the standard of excellence even higher.
Everyone’s participation is critical. Collectively, gifts of all sizes combine to make a significant difference in the quality of education at SWOSU College of Pharmacy.
The Southwestern Pharmacy Alumni Foundation is dedicated to supporting the College of Pharmacy and enriching the educational experience of our students. Gifts to the Southwestern Pharmacy Alumni Foundation may be made in several ways, including but not limited to the following:
Outright ‘Current’ Gifts: Cash/Check/Money Order, Pledges, Memorial & Tribute Gifts, Corporate Matching Gifts, Gifts of Securities.
Planned ‘Deferred’ Gifts: Bequest in a Will or Living Trust, Life Insurance.
The Focus Campaign provides an exciting investment opportunity for individuals, businesses, and foundations. While the current tax code encourages the tangible benefits of charitable giving, the intangible rewards can be much greater.
