Join us in our fight against cancer! Kappa Epsilon, the Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy’s professional fraternity whose purpose is to encourage and promote the social and professional advancement of women in pharmacy, is helping to “Celebrate 25 years of Hope” with Relay for Life. Every spring, Kappa Epsilon raises money for a great cause and it is to help find a cure for or better the lives of people with cancer. The members of Kappa Epsilon will be walking in the Relay for Life of Custer County on April 24th and 25th, 2009, to raise money and awareness for the programs and services provided by the American Cancer Society. Our organization’s goal is to raise $4,000 to help achieve Relay for Life’s goal of $87,000. Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraiser. During the relay, our team will walk for 12 hours through the night in honor of people who are fighting this horrible disease and in memory of those who have lost their battle to cancer. This overnight event symbolizes a cancer patient’s struggle – the darkness of being diagnosed and fighting through cancer treatment and the light of morning that signifies the hope for a cure and ultimately, for survival. With your help we can save the lives and ease suffering! The American Cancer Society and the research it funds have contributed to most of the major cancer research breakthroughs of the century, including the Pap smear, mammogram, bone marrow transplant procedure, radiation, chemotherapy treatment, and even the CAT scan.
